Memory: Your Key to Victory!
Remember the young man who couldn't see the Lord's Host of angels in the mountain? He had a lot going for him. Prophet Elisha was his daily companion and he had seen miracles performed before. But now, with the enemy forces gathered against them, he could only cry, "Alas! What shall we do?"
With so many wonderful experiences of their past, we also wonder at Israel's despondency when new needs arose. Why couldn't they trust the God who had already shown Himself strong and capable? Rather than trust, they were constantly "murmuring and complaining" (to use the scriptural terms).
Quite honestly now, how many times have you criticized, grumbled, and belly-ached over your own problems, instead of holding your head high, whistling a happy tune, and patiently waiting on God? One of the most precious promises God has given is, " But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isa. 40:31). This scripture is preceded by some ominous possibilities; Isaiah suggests that, as humans, we do become faint and weak. And, even young people, who seem to never run out of energy, do indeed eventually run out of steam and faint! But, he seems to say, "If they are confident, keeping faith, and waiting on God He will come through with that needed burst of energy." Isaiah's assessment is that we who don't give up will soar above our difficulties on eagle's wings! Further, he indicates that we can outrun our problems and difficulties on legs and feet that will not even get tired!
Take a look at the very first word of this article. That, dear saint, is your most effective weapon. If Satan can confuse and disorient you, making you forget God's past blessings and provisions, you will "doubt, pout, spew and spout!" Satan's purpose for trying Job hasn't changed; he still wants you to curse God and die.
